Here are the 10 most expensive dog breeds after the pandemic sent puppy prices soaring – including the adorable Labrador Retriever

Many of us welcomed new puppies into our families during lockdown in 2020, as the Kennel Club saw the number of dog owners jump almost 8% to around 250,000.

But growing demand for some of the most popular breeds has driven prices up, meaning a dog will likely cost you a lot more today than it did 18 months ago.

Research from pet retailer Pets at Home shows the average puppy in the UK cost £1,875 in 2020, more than double the average price in 2019.

And some breeds will cost you almost £3,000 on average.
