The staff and residents of Falmouth Court Care Home in Barchester in Falmouth enjoyed a litter of puppies for their Fun Community Dog Show which was held on Saturday 2nd August 20.
With a resounding success of around 75 dogs and 250 owners attending the event, even the Mayor, Mayoress and their adorable four-legged friend were in attendance.
Falmouth Court held the dog show to raise money for local dog charity K9 Crusaders and a total of £337 was raised that day.
K9 Crusader Treasurer Marion Mansi said: “Thank you so much to Falmouth Court for putting on this wonderful show and raising these much needed funds.
“It was a fabulous day and everyone had a great time and we were lucky that the weather was perfect for the occasion.”
The dog show featured ten entertaining categories ranging from “Waggiest Tail” to “Best Trick”; as well as “Best Junior Handler” and “Dog the Judge Wants to Bring Home the Most” among others.
Best in Show was chosen by our volunteer judges Katie Plastow and Pam Wright of ‘The Groomery’ in St. Agnes and was awarded to ‘Frankie’ a French Bull terrier, owned by the Atkin family who wowed the crowds with its towers.
Owner Elise Atkin said: “It was such a wonderful day.
“With such a high turnout and so nice to see a variety of different races.
“I think it’s really wonderful for Falmouth Court to be hosting this fun community event.”
Second chef Ken Dawe spent the afternoon behind the barbecue grilling up burgers and sausages for the crowd to enjoy.
Home Services Councilor Hugh Dickinson said: “Our residents and staff loved our first big community event and having the chance to watch the judges choose the dogs was very special to everyone.
“We had a great day meeting our furry friends and their families in the area.
“Our doors are always open if they ever want to come back for a visit.”
“A big thank you to Brian Etherrington Meats, West Country Fruit, Bailey’s Country Store, D&M’s Disco – Wedding & Party Specialists and Puppy Steps Dog Training & Walking for all their donations, help and support that day.”
