A woman arrives at a man’s house unexpectedly, he asks for a personal protection order

The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by journalist Tereasa Nims.

Wednesday August 24

11:42 p.m. – A deputy is dispatched to a residence in the township of Jérôme for a plea. The deputy contacted a 31-year-old woman from Hope Township who advised her to come to her ex-boyfriend, a 33-year-old man from Jerome Township, to pick up their common daughter. An argument ensued and the couple were separated for the night. There was no assault.

11:23 p.m. – Police responded to the 1300 block of State Street for a loud complaint.

7:24 p.m. – The Coleman Community Schools School Resource Officer was on hand at Coleman Elementary School and Coleman Jr/Sr High School for open house events.

4:43 p.m. – A deputy is dispatched to the township of Jérôme concerning a dog locked in a car. When the deputy arrived, the deputy found a dog in a car with the windows partially rolled down and a dog that was in no way distress.

4.26pm – A deputy spoke to a 41-year-old man from Jerome Township after a 36-year-old Midland woman showed up at his home unannounced but left on request. The man applies for a personal protection order.

4:04 p.m. – An animal control assistant received a complaint of two stray dogs trying to enter a chicken coop. The owner was able to see this on a security camera. The dogs had left before the deputy arrived.

3:35 p.m. – A deputy locates the woman who was on the shoulder. She was heading to the store from a residence in Hope Township. The deputy drove her the rest of the way.

2:10 p.m. – Police responded to a hit-and-run accident at West Wackerly and Eastman Avenue.

2:02 p.m. – A deputy assists Jerome Township Fire on a brush fire.

1:08 p.m. – Police were called to a private property accident in the 1100 block of Joe Mann Blvd.

12:30 p.m. – Police responded to the 2700 block of Dawn Drive for a theft of a bicycle complaint.

10:58 a.m. – Deputies spoke to a 48-year-old man referring to a personal protection order against a Gladwin County woman. Deputies informed the man that there was no active PPO and instructed him on how to find a PPO.

10:42 a.m. – A deputy cited a 32-year-old Jerome Township woman after a traffic stop in Jerome Township. A report will be sent to the prosecutor.

10:50 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center to complete a delayed car/deer traffic accident report that occurred in Midland Township the evening before. An accident report has been completed.

9.05am – Deputies responded to a roadside referral from Greendale Township about a large truck having mechanical issues. Before the arrival of the deputies, the central dispatch indicated that the large truck had left the roadway and did not constitute a danger.

6:22 a.m. – Deputies responded to Lincoln Township after a 75-year-old Lincoln Township woman reported an unknown subject at her front door in the early hours of the morning. The man had left when the deputies arrived.

3:57 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Mills Township residence for a 26-year-old Mills Township man who called 911 regarding a suspicious situation at his home. Deputies checked inside the residence and the suspicious activity was unfounded.

3:05 a.m. – Police responded to the 4800 block of Monterey Drive for possession of heroin and methamphetamine.
