6 dog breeds suitable for cats

Labradors, Pugs and Golden Retrievers are among the best-suited dog breeds for cats, according to new research.

As Google searches for ‘best dogs with cats’ rose 55% last year, Canine Cottages has revealed which dogs can live peacefully alongside your feline friends. The two animals can often be described as enemies, but that’s certainly not always the case.

“We are a nation of animal lovers, and sometimes it can be difficult to introduce a new pet to an existing cat or dog that already lives in your home,” said Shannon Keary, digital public relations manager. at Canine Cottages.

“Remember that although these are generally good breeds for cats, the relationship between a cat and a dog depends on the character of the animals and how the two are introduced and managed.”

On that note, take a look at the full list of races below…

First place goes to Golden Retrievers, thanks to their friendly and sociable nature. Canine Cottages explains, “One of the nation’s most favorite breeds, Golden Retrievers are incredibly patient and affectionate dogs, making them a great choice for feline friends. Even if your cat isn’t confident or playful on first encounters, Golden Retrievers will be happy to sit down and give the cat the time it needs to settle in without barking back.”
